Sister Islands Opening Retreat
Leadership Cayman's Class of '25 held their Sister Islands Opening Retreat from 23 to 25 January 2025 on Cayman Brac.The first two days were mostly taken up with a leadership workshop, facilitated by Dr. Peter Hammerschmidt, a leading expert on team building and conflict resolution. “We did a lot of teambuilding exercises which challenged the brain, and how it works,” said Jada Ramoon, the Chamber’s Programmes Coordinator said. The 23 Leadership Cayman students discovered much about their personality types – and how they can best use them as leaders, to effect change.
On Friday evening, the Sister Islands seminar and panel discussion was facilitated by Kathryn Kirkconnell, Manager of Islands Realty Ltd, Jonathan Tibbitts, General Manager of Islands Energy, Dr. Velusamy, director of Sister Islands Health Services, and Saskia Edwards, Programme Manager at Cayman Brac’s Heritage House.
On Saturday Morning there was a tour if Cayman Brac – with the group having their photos taken at the Cayman Brac Lighthouse, high up on the bluff. They also visited Heritage House, and had lunch at Le Solei – a farm-to-table restaurant, and Faith Hospital before going back to Grand Cayman in the evening.
