That was followed by Dinner & Seminar at the KPMG offices in Cricket Square. 

Mentor for the evening was Stephanie Rattan, Day Programme Coordinator, Sunrise Adult Learning Centre, while Moderators were Charmaine Miller, Clinical Supervisor, Family Resource Centre, Department of Counselling Services, and Richard Freeme, Chief Financial Officer, Heritage Holdings Group. The seminar sponsor for the evening was KPMG Cayman Ltd, and the Venue Sponsor: KPMG Cayman Ltd, and the Tour Sponsor was John Gray High School.

The evening provided an opportunity for the class to gain insight into the landscape of education within the Cayman Islands, as well as the inclusion of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Speakers were Richard Wildman, Senior School Improvement Officer, Ministry of Education; Shan Harriman, CEO, Inclusion Cayman, and Robert Robertson, President and CEO, University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI).

Cayman’s education system benefits from a collaborative effort between public and private sector stakeholders. These key players contribute across primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, with a shared mission of delivering high-quality education that fosters academic achievement for all children in the Cayman Islands.

Key questions included: How has the Cayman Islands education system demonstrated improvement in student outcomes over time? How has the ‘Children Educated Out of Year Group Policy’ affected children who are not performing at expected standards? What is your opinion on the education standards for school age in the Cayman Islands? Do you feel that public and private education should be merged?
